About Us
Lighthouse BEST Program is an after-school inclusion program catering to students aged 4-22, encompassing both neurotypical and neurodiverse students.
Since 2003, we have proudly served Kern County, collaborating with students and families to offer a secure and supportive environment for students to thrive.
Our Mission
The aim of Lighthouse B.E.S.T Program is to enhance the quality of life for children and young adults with developmental disabilities, along with typical developing children. By providing a diverse range of preferred activities that offer choices and options, we help each individual shape their own future based on personal goals and aspirations. At Lighthouse, we hold the belief that the people we serve are defined by their unique human qualities, not by their disabilities or challenges.
With thoughtful planning, we have developed a program that caters to the specific needs of each child and young adult, nurturing their talents and abilities to enable them to achieve their highest potential.

My son has been participating in Lighthouse B.E.S.T program for about seven years now. Since joining the Lighthouse family my son has showed great progression especially with his socialization, communication, and confidence. He wakes up in the morning excited to go to his program. He will excitedly lists its employees who have created a beautiful bond with my son as he starts his day. When he comes he’s always so happy and says bye to his friends. The staff communicate effectively in concerns of my son and actively stay on the same page with me when it comes to him in regards to concerns or wishes. Due to Lighthouse my son has created friendships and bonds that have given him a sense of inclusion that I have desperately wanted for my autistic teenage son.
